About us
A fair shot at a trade
BuildForward Minnesota is a proposed nonprofit that helps people who want to work with their hands find a clear, supported path into construction and skilled-trades careers.
Mission
We expand access to stable, family-supporting careers by equipping underserved and unemployed youths and adults with practical construction and skilled-trades training, recognized credentials, supportive services, and direct connections to employers and apprenticeship pathways.
Vision
A Minnesota where everyone who wants to work with their hands has a fair opportunity to learn a trade, earn industry-recognized credentials, and build a safer, more secure future through meaningful employment.
Core values
01
Dignity and respect
Participants are partners in their own career plans, not problems to be fixed.
02
Access and inclusion
Reduce barriers related to cost, transportation, tools, language, digital access, and prior experience.
03
Practical learning
Hands-on training, safe work habits, and skills employers actually use.
04
Employer connection
Training built around real job requirements, with clear paths to interviews and apprenticeships.
05
Accountability
We measure enrollment, completion, credentials, placement, retention, and participant experience.
06
Community partnership
We work with employers, unions, colleges, and community groups instead of duplicating services.
07
Continuous improvement
Participant and employer feedback shapes our curriculum and delivery.
